On 22–23 September 2025, the BMBF-funded project RENEW hosted a workhop in Darmstadt that brought together insights from research on regional innovation systems and the challenges of transdisciplinary and transformative research. The conference explored the conditions and principles under which transformations can be successfully implemented at the regional level. Experts from both fields discussed experiences, challenges, and approaches for enabling transformation in practice.
Gesa Pflitsch (UNIRE, BOKU), who served on the project’s Scientific Advisory Board over the past three years, contributed a five-minute impulse talk on the role of university leadership in transformative processes.
