08.06.2026, Dissonance as a Driver of Transformation
How can tensions between different value systems contribute to societal change? This question was at the heart of the recent guest lecture of Gesa Pflitsch at the University of Stavanger.
Drawing among others on empirical examples from the UNIRE project, the lecture explored how “dissonance” – situations in which different understandings of what is valuable collide – can act not only as a source of conflict, but also as a catalyst for learning, creativity, and transformative change.
